MONTREAL, Dec. 3, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Urban Barns Foods Inc. (URBF) ("Urban Barns"), an innovative food producer dedicated to growing consistent, healthy and fresh vegetables year round using its proprietary Cubic Farming(TM) method, has signed a memorandum of understanding dated December 2, 2014 with Bamford Produce Company Limited ("Bamford's") for the purpose of establishing a collaborative business relationship between the two businesses.
The memorandum of understanding is to establish a relationship between Urban Barns and Bamford's, whereby Bamford's will serve as the primary and preferred distributor of all Urban Barns products in the entire province of Ontario and designated parts of Eastern Canada, excluding Ottawa, Ontario.
Through their association, the focus of the relationship will be to service and expand the existing business and clientele of Bamford's (distributor) with the products of Urban Barns (producer), and in particular to supply participants in the upscale food service industry (four and five star hotels, restaurants and catering companies). No part of this MOU covers retail grocery stores. The memorandum of understanding with Urban Barns reinforces both the position and interest of both businesses to offer distinctive produce exclusively to their customers.
Mr. Richard Groome, President & CEO of Urban Barns, stated, "We are very pleased to expand our reach into Canada's largest market. With over 130 years of experience, Bamford's Produce is the perfect fit in helping us provide consistent, healthy and fresh vegetables year round."
