The Department of Health will register and regulate centers that produce and distribute marijuana for medical purposes and shall issue identification cards to patients and caregivers. A constitutional amendment sponsored by People United for Medical Marijuana obtained 754,613 signatures by January 24, 2014 (683,149 were required by February 1, 2014). The Florida Supreme Court ruled 4-3 in favor of allowing the initiative to be decided by voters on November 4, 2014. The support by Floridians seems to be enough to get it passed as the polls are showing a 60 to 80 percent support rate depending on the source. With over $3.7 million checks to support the cause we are looking at an enormous green rush in Florida.
