I want to make a comment about the relationship between the number of students actually using the product, Student Connect, (complete with any possible advertising texts ).... And Verizon. The only connections I have ever known are two things. One is that Verizon is the company thatECDC chose to provide networking service for the texts to parents. That would include any possible, future adjoining ads on those student related texts. I believe ECDC would pay for that Wireless service provision just like anyone else would.
The other connection is this. Verizon has sales reps who understand the entire system. They can "pitch" the system but I do not know how much of that ECDC handles directly. These people are also paid to educate the school bus admins about the products function, and I think that may be before and after the RFID equipment installation on the bus. That's a cursory understanding and more detail is in the company's reports.
So as to any recent questions , regarding the relationship between student head count and Verizon, I have no clue. I do not see a direct connection or an indirect connection. What goes on with VERIZON is what I'd call an "expense " to ECDC. And no relationship to profits except that the system can't work at all without a wireless service provider. Yes, VERIZON is paid for services mentioned above. But any other connection is news to me. I have heard talk here that possibly there is something else but never any verification.
Not an advisor. All said is as I see it thus IMO. Hoping numbers will be forthcoming re: actual numbers of students using the product, representing any possible future , frank numbers of ad texts , which adjoin texts to parents, (verifying student's transport status throughout the day.)
Without hose numbers, and the price for each text, I have no idea regarding whether ECDC is operating in a profit margin, or simply accruing more dept. it's expensive to run that business, it appears.........
