It is hard to know when they actually started testing. It depends on when they knew had to perform the tests. I am not optimistic that they got an early jump on them, even before they revised the packaging on or about 9/12/14. Indications are for the past 2 years they had very little clue about the total path to marketing, since they originally announced product release by summer 2012, and subsequently embarked on many activities since then.

The worst case is that they were clueless until I sent them an email some time ago asking about stability testing, after sunspotter raised the issue on the MB.

Many may praise Hensley but I am not convinced he is the sharpest knife in the drawer.
