I would not characterize it as immature, he is much too experienced for that. Is it over-confident, as the statement about the Titanic would suggest? (You do know that it was not Capt. Smith who made the statement, it was Bruce Ismay the builder.) Would you want anything less from the CEO? How might he have phrased it?

How about..."Well it has taken us ten years to finally get to this point and really no small company has had such success. Plus, Pfizer and Purdue are really formidable pharmas and those are just the companies in the Ps of the alphabet. And, the FDA does not make it easy for small companies (did I say that already?), so I am not sure. But, even though the jury is out, we did decide to spend millions to improve our manufacturing capabilities and no one can stop us doing that. Well, unless you count share holders who let the board of directors know their unhappiness and suggest a new CEO is needed. But, even that would not stop us, I meant them. Of course, I can say, without equivocation that, today, nothing can stop Thanksgiving. Well, unless there is the end of the world, then everything is stopped."
