Dear Investors:

This week we posted two blogs recapping last week's Senate Banking Committee Hearing with FHFA Director Mel Watt. The first blog, titled "Senate Banking Committee Chair Says Time for Administration to End Conservatorship," highlights Committee Chairman Tim Johnson's (D-SD) call for FHFA to work with the Treasury Department to end the conservatorship. Sen. Johnson said:

"Everyone agrees that conservatorship cannot continue forever, so I hope my colleagues will keep working towards a more certain future for the housing market…If Congress cannot agree on a smooth, more certain path forward, I urge you, Director Watt, to engage the Treasury Department in talks to end the conservatorship."

The second blog, called "Senate Banking Committee Part 2: A Reminder of the Financial Strength of Fannie & Freddie," details other exchanges from the hearing, including Sen. Robert Menendez's (D-NJ) remarks about the profitability of Fannie and Freddie. The blog also includes some excerpts from Director Watt's prepared testimony regarding the financial position of the GSEs.

We encourage members to read both, and share your thoughts on the Investors Unite Discussion Board.

Thanks!
