One of the most difficult things for us to do is to get ourselves into focus where the Lord is concerned. We are, by nature, egocentric beings. When we accomplish something, it's a natural reaction to want recognition for our success. When our churches grow, we want to attribute it to our programs or our great teachers or our brilliant preachers. When we get a promotion at work, we want to attribute it to our hard work and talent. When our children grow up to be productive, admirable adults, we want to pat ourselves on the back for a job well done. When we succeed at anything, we want credit to be given where credit is due. And that's the key... could we do anything... ANYTHING... without Jesus? Every ounce of intelligence that you and I have came directly from the Lord. Every talent we possess was given to us by God. Every door that opens for us was opened by the hand of God. The very fact that we live and breathe is because He allows it! The very fact that God allows us to speak directly to Him, is due to Jesus' sacrifice for you and me! So how can we, as Christians, take credit for anything? The moment we shift the focus to ourselves and away from Jesus, we've not only misdirected our own focus, but that of those around us who need to get to know Him.
