Kimberly-Clark:

Flush? Or Don't Flush?

Kimberly-Clark is committed to helping consumers understand what is and is not safe to flush and will continue to work closely with industry groups to ensure that accurate information is promoted.

We make a number of cleansing cloths that are safe to be flushed. However, we also make wipes that should not be flushed. Kimberly-Clark produces flushable cleansing cloths under several brands: Cottonelle®, Scott Naturals®, Pull-Ups®, U by Kotex® and Poise®. We also make baby wipe products under the Huggies® brand that are not flushable. Please read the label on all wipe products and use as directed.

All of our products that are labeled as flushable meet or exceed the current industry guidelines for assessing the flushability of non-woven products. Our flushable cleansing cloths use a patented dispersible technology that allows them to be strong in the package and durable for wiping, but to break up after flushing and to clear properly maintained toilets, drain-lines, sewers, pumps, and septic and municipal treatment systems.

It entails supplying at least one thermoplastic starch to an extruder and injecting at least one liquid fragrance into the extruder to form a fragranced thermoplastic starch, wherein the liquid fragrance has a boiling point at atmospheric pressure of from about 125°C to about 350°C; blending the fragranced thermoplastic starch with at least one biodegradable aliphatic-aromatic copolyester to form a blend; and casting or blowing the blend onto a surface to form a biodegradable film. The injection of the liquid fragrance is accomplished without pre-compounding the fragrance. The thermoplastic starch includes a biodegradable starch polymer plasticized with a - See more at: http://www.happi.com/issues/2014-07-02/view_breaking-news/fragranced-biodegradable-film-patented-by-kimberly-clark/#sthash.uY7FH2wR.dpuf
