I think we can all expect it to come from ISRG. They will try, if for any other reason, to defund a portion of Titan through legal maneuvers. Also hoping to delay the launch. But my opinion is that the world of medicine, NEEDS another robotic platform. There is a restriction of trade that ISRG will have to themselves fight if they pursue the fight against Titan. But they have the money and monopoly to try. Their only risk is to fail and the inevitable happens.... SPORT comes to life. The risk to TItan is the defunding and scare to investors. But the fight... just may open up free advertisement of SPORT, which is what ISRG does NOT want. There will be more backers... more investors... and SPORT will be here. I talked to an ISRG rep, and his feeling is that there is a part of ISRG that welcomes competition at this point. Another company will validate the "need" for robotics. Validate the future of robotics in general and be another voice besides theirs that will promote the technology in to the future. The growth of the robotics industry is supposed to grow from 4 billion a year to up to 20 billion by 2020 according to some analysts. There is enough room for both to thrive financially..... But Titan WILL take a chunk out of ISRG's new single port platform. Maybe it is a better platform with solid patents?? We all of course hope!! If it is, that may be the reason ISRG decides not to fight, but to purchase it before it gets to far??? TIme will tell for us all. I think, any way you look at it, Titan is going to be a player and we are going to be winners with this investment. Happy Sunday to everyone.
