Sorry Rose ..they are not both right

In the opinion of the Cleveland Clinic ( Dr Nissen ) and the UCSF Adult Lipid clinic ( the co directors write for Current Opinion in Lipidolgy ) ..the process is as follows.

Small LDL particles become embedded in the arterial wall.
The body has an inflammatory response to that and arterial plaques are formed.
When those plaques rupture their contents block blood flow to the heart muscle ...an MI.

I believe JL is in basic agreement with the above but I'm sure he'll correct where appropriate :)
