Applied DNA Sciences Wins Best of What's New 2014 Award from Popular Science

Applied DNA Sciences, together with partner MSS Professional A/S, it has received a Popular Science Best of What’s New 2014 Award in the Security category for SmokeCloak® DNA.

The awards was announced in the December issue of the magazine on newsstands November 12.
The unique SmokeCloak® DNA security fog system, when deployed in pharmacies, banks, and other commercial/retail locations, works to protect staff, customers and assets. A thick and disorienting fog wards off offenders and deposits a unique, location-specific DNA marker on skin, clothing and stolen items. The combination of fog and DNA technologies, officials of the two companies say, has proven to be a deterrent to criminals; people and property are safer.

Each year, Popular Science reviews thousands of new products and chooses the top 100 winners across 12 categories for inclusion. SmokeCloak® DNA was chosen for its significant innovation and effectiveness in protecting commerce and safety.
“The Best of What’s New Awards is our magazine’s top honor, and the 100 awardees are selected from a
pool of thousands. Each winner is handpicked and revolutionary in its own way. Whether they’re poised to change the world or simply your living room, the Best of What’s New awardees challenge us to the see the future in a new light,” said Cliff Ransom, Executive Editor of Popular Science.

“MSS Professional A/S develops the world’s best fog generators under the brand name SmokeCloak, and we work closely with leading experts in the security industry, including ADNAS. It is our expectation
that SmokeCloak, together with ADNAS’ natural DNA will comfortably prevent thousands of burglaries and robberies throughout the world,” said Nick Bigler, CEO of MSS Professional A/S.

“We are honored to receive such a prestigious award from Popular Science,” said Dr. James A Hayward, President and CEO of Applied DNA Sciences. “As is typical of our applications — from protection against metal theft, to prevention of counterfeiting in electronics and textiles — SmokeCloak DNA stands alone. It was created in collaboration with the law-enforcement community and we are proud that SmokeCloak® DNA can make the world a safer place.”

SmokeCloak DNA has been featured on Discovery Channel Canada, WABC-TV, Bloomberg BusinessWeek, and other media outlets.
