10 years ago or so I had a guy rip me off on an eBay transaction. He had been a legit seller for a long time but one day he decided it would be more profitable to buy up a bunch of old/broken surplus crap and hawk it on eBay as "new in box."

I managed to get a phone number for him and told him he was a thief. He said "you're unhappy, what are you going to do about it, make a mean face at me?"

Eventually he got banned from eBay so he moved on to his next scheme which was to import counterfeit Cisco network equipment. He printed up Cisco labels, owner manuals and shipping cartons and shipped the stuff worldwide, bringing in millions.

Trouble is, when customers who bought the phony equipment had a problem they called Cisco support.

"What do you mean serial number not on file?"

He ended up in federal prison for 18 months or so.

Every once in a while I make a smiley face when I think of him.

With a little luck we may be able to make smiley faces at Eddie and Looter one day.
