USA ENERGY USAGE

How much gasoline does the United States consume?

In 2013, about 134.51 billion gallons1 (or 3.20 billion barrels) of gasoline were consumed2 in the United States, a daily average of about 368.51 million gallons (or 8.77 million barrels). This was about 6% less than the record high of about 142.35 billion gallons (or 3.39 billion barrels) consumed in 2007.

1There are 42 U.S. gallons in a barrel.

Demand for ultra-low sulfur diesel, the type used on highways, rose 8.4 percent to average 3.19 million barrels a day last month, the industry-funded group said today in a report. Consumption during the first 10 months of 2010 climbed 2.9 percent to 2.97 million barrels a day.

“We’ve been watching the diesel demand numbers, which have been very strong,” John Felmy, chief economist with the Washington-based API, said in a telephone interview. “There’s a strong correlation between diesel consumption and economic growth. This is clearly a good sign for the economy.”

Imagine if ECSL is capable of providing enough product in both the gasoline and diesel markets to provide 1 % of the daily usage at a reasonable profit margin and I am only talking about the USA not anywhere else in the world.

This is taking the gasoline market to be 368,000,000 gallons per day

This taking the diesel market to be 134,000,000 gallons per day.
