He is no average defender. He had a 2.0 defensive war last season, and has a positive defensive war every year. Every year so Can't agree with you on the defensive side of the ball. On the offensive side he is a good player for his position. Having said that on my defense he is 4/50 Million player. He had a 5.5 war this season and a 4.3 war last season so he is far from average. But 5/82 is a bit much for a guy who hit 11 homers. I think he is a 12-13 million a year player and he deserved 3-4 years because he has been very good. but 5 years, at 16.4 million a year is a bit much on both sides in my opinion.
