Hi MTM, If anything, I think you're being too kind to Harry. It's not the advanced math and engineering he missed, it's the elementary math and engineering.

When I started looking at investing in Cyclone I went to the steam car club forum and read his posts that started in 2002 or 2003.

The process was that he dreamed up the "perfect" steam engine, which eventually was given the name Mark 5. He did all the drawings down to the last detail then applied for patents.

If you look at the drawings of the original engine patent that was filed on Sep 13, 2005 and compare them to any other drawing or picture of a Mark 5 (except for the new rotary valve version), there are no differences. The complete design for the Mark 5 was locked down when Cyclone started.

But here's the thing: Harry never tried to build one until the order from Phoenix Power in 2009. Every last bit of the design was based on Harry's opinion of what a perfect steam engine should be, rather than the result of a coherent program of design and testing.

I'll bet that a lot of the design came from Harry's thoughts on visual appeal rather than utilitarian functioning. Hence all the really attractive non-functional mock-ups from weedeater to truck engine size.

But, the guy has spent his life in the South Florida powerboat scene. Shiny toys and big talk. Image over substance. And he's been successful at it.
