I agree the over the top projections here can get ridiculous.

That said, a standard conversion rate of the general public vs converting a much more focused demographic (say active Twitter followers of particular talent) would yield drastically different results. Conversion of the general public would be lucky to yield fractions of a percent while you would expect the conversion of the target demographic to yield many many multiples of that.
