Clarification on Sony Triluminous TV's...QD or no QD[?] ...to clear-up some continuing confusion (like the PlusPlastics article: "Sony has used the nanocrystals in its Triluminos range since 2013" comment) regarding Sonys' use of QD's (linked to QDV) , I got this clarification data from some nerds that get way too carried away caring about this stuff: ----------------------------------------------------------------- "According to hdtvtest: W905A (last years model) - uses Quantum dots edit: X900A - also should use Quantum dots X950B - doesn't use Quantum dots anymore but rather an inhouse tech X9005B - also doesn't use Quantum dots anymore but rather an inhouse tech W955B - uses a normal (?) IPS display (White Leds or inhouse tech?)" ----------------------------------------------------------------- ". The 900A and 900B have different backlighting technology. The 900A is QD and Sony switched to a white LED (two phosphor LED?) for the 900B series. They branded both as "Triluminous" ------------------------------------------------------------------ http://www.avsforum.com/forum/139-display-calibration/1665970-calibrating-quantum-dot-lit-displays.html Consequently, it's very much in-doubt whether Sony is currently using QD's 'at all' anymore...I suspect not.
