There used to be an old fella who lived up the road from me (passed on a few years ago). He was a WWII vet, who jumped into Normandy, and later was stationed at the Bulge.

When he was telling me about D-Day and parachuting in the dark, I asked him how he knew if he was in the right place or not.

His answer?

I knew I was in the right place at the right time doing the right thing, because all of the artillery was landing right next to me.

I've always remembered his account of that day, and I've always remembered those words.
