They could do better but really that isnt going to solve a problem. Mom and Pop are still going to lag because of their service providers, locality and hard/software. Not any of them are making on the fly trading decision based upon filings. This is no different than the data mining going on with social media, there are farms of computers in New York searching every single social media website for any news related items to trade off of.


This is of course much different than HFT hooked directly to the NYSE computer within feet, in the same building.
