Figured I'd explain the definition of a "." (Period)

"Noun 1. full stop - a punctuation mark (.) placed at the end of a declarative sentence to indicate a full stop or after abbreviations; "in England they call a period a stop"
full point, period, stop, point
punctuation mark, punctuation - the marks used to clarify meaning by indicating separation of words into sentences and clauses and phrases
suspension point - (usually plural) one of a series of points indicating that something has been omitted or that the sentence is incomplete

In other words the two sentences are two points not one and had they been one you may be correct but that's a period not a comma.
