Potty-Mouthed Princesses Drop F-Bombs for Feminism

Facing a future where women are still paid 23% less than men for the same work, and where 1 in 5 women are raped or sexually assaulted in gender-based violence, little girls between 6 and 13 years-old dressed as pretty pink princesses drop F-bombs to draw attention to society’s continued sexism. Asking the question, “What’s more offensive? A little girl saying f*ck or the sexist way society treats girls and women” these adorably articulate little ladies in sparkling tiaras turn the “princess in distress” stereotype on its head and contrast the F-word with words and statistics society should find shocking such as “pay inequality” and “rape.” The video also features a 12 year-old boy wearing a pink gown standing up against sexism saying, “When you tell boys not to ‘act like a girl,’ it’s because you think it’s bad to be a girl.”

Someone Smashed The Disputed Oklahoma Ten Commandments Monument To Pieces

A Ten Commandments monument erected outside the Oklahoma state Capitol is shown on Friday, Nov. 16, 2012. After the 6-foot-tall monument was put in place, the Oklahoma lawmaker who paid for it acknowledged the misspelling of the words Sabbath as "Sabbeth" and maidservant as "maidseruant."

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Someone drove up a ramp near the Oklahoma Capitol steps overnight and into a disputed granite monument of the Ten Commandments, smashing it to pieces in an apparent act of vandalism, authorities said.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol Capt. George Brown said the person abandoned the car and fled the scene after destroying the monument Thursday night, and that investigators are searching the sedan for clues. He said he didn't know if there were any witnesses, but that investigators are reviewing security video.

The 6-foot-tall monument was erected in 2012 with the blessing of Oklahoma's conservative Legislature. The American Civil Liberties Union of Oklahoma has been suing to have it removed, arguing that it violates the state constitution and could be seen as a state endorsement of a religion.

"We consider this an act of violence against the state of Oklahoma," said Republican state Rep. Mike Ritze, of Broken Arrow, whose family spent nearly $10,000 having the monument erected. "We are obviously shocked and dismayed, but we're not discouraged," he said, vowing to have it rebuilt.

Gov. Mary Fallin called it an "appalling" act of vandalism and volunteered to help raise private funds to restore it.

The ACLU sued on behalf of a Norman minister and others who allege the monument's location violates the state constitution's ban on using public property to support "any sect, church, denomination or system of religion."

A judge ruled last month that the monument does not violate the state constitution, and ACLU attorneys filed an appeal with the Oklahoma Supreme Court.

Ryan Kiesel, the ACLU of Oklahoma's executive director, said he and his clients are "outraged" that the monument was vandalized.

"To see the Ten Commandments desecrated by vandals is highly offensive to them as people of faith," Kiesel said.

The monument's placement has led others to seek their own on the Capitol grounds, including a satanic group that earlier this year unveiled designs for a 7-foot-tall statue of Satan. Other requests have been made from a Hindu leader in Nevada and the satirical Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

Family of man accused of damaging Ten Commandments monument talks

Michael Reed, 29, taken for mental evaluation

11:03 PM CDT Oct 24, 2014

OKLAHOMA CITY —The Secret Service has arrested an individual for allegedly driving into the Ten Commandments monument near the state Capitol building.

Officials say someone drove their car into monument Thursday night, smashing it to pieces. The suspect reportedly made vague threats at the Oklahoma City Federal Building today and was taken into custody. His name has not yet been released.

The suspect has been identified as Michael Tate Reed Jr., 29. He is from Roland and was taken to Oklahoma County mental facility for an emergency order of detention and a mental evaluation.

The suspect said Satan told him to do it, Secret Service officials said. He also reportedly said he would kill President Obama and spit on a photo of Obama. The suspect also allegedly admitted that he urinated on the Ten Commandments monument before running it over.

Reed's mother, Crystal Tucker, said such an action is not something he would do.

“He would never deface something that meant so much to him. He takes the Ten Commandments very seriously,” Tucker said.

Tucker said Reed has been battling breakdowns for two years.

“It all started after an injury at work four years ago,” Tucker said. “Now, when he has these breakdowns, the one thing that is foremost in his mind, his religion, is the thing he takes it out on.”

Tucker said Reed does not worship Satan.

“Anyone who knows Michael, knows he loves his God," Tucker said. "Right now, everyone is praying for him.”

The vehicle involved was abandoned and has since been impounded. The incident occurred at approximately 9 p.m.

The cleanup is underway and parts of the monument will be restored.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating the malicious destruction of state property and will be looking for surveillance footage.

"We'll process the scene and suspect vehicle to further the investigation in hopes of locating the responsible party", said spokesperson George Brown.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Oklahoma made this statement following the incident:

"The ACLU of Oklahoma and our clients are outraged at this apparent act of vandalism. While we have and continue to seek the removal of the Ten Commandments monument from the Capitol grounds through the judicial process, the Ten Commandments constitute a strong foundation in our clients' deeply held religious beliefs. To see the Ten Commandments desecrated by vandals is highly offensive to them as people of faith. Our Oklahoma and Federal Constitutions seek to create a society in which people of all faiths and those of no faith at all can coexist as equals without fear of repressions from the government or their neighbors. Whether it is politicians using religion as a political tool or vandals desecrating religious symbols, neither are living up to the full promise of our founding documents."

An official with the US Attorney's Office said if enough evidence is found against the suspect regarding his alleged threats against the president then a report will be submitted to the US Attorney's Office.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call OHP at 405-425-7709.

Suspect says Satan made him smash into Oklahoma Ten Commandments monument

Posted 9:38 am, October 24, 2014, by KFOR-TV & L. Noland, Updated at 4:35pm and 06:36pm, October 24, 2014

OKLAHOMA CITY – A man has been taken in for mental evaluation after allegedly vandalizing the Ten Commandments monument at the Oklahoma State Capitol.

U.S. Secret Service Agents say it all started after a man walked into the Federal Building in downtown Oklahoma City Friday morning making strange threats against the President and Federal Government.

Agents say he then admitted to them that he crashed his car into the Ten Commandments monument at the Capitol, then left his damaged car and walked to the Federal Building.

The Secret Service says the man told them that Satan made him crash his car into the statue.

He also told agents that Satan told him to urinate on the statue.

According to investigators, the man says he is bipolar and had been off his medication for quite some time.

Secret Service Agents determined all of the information the suspect had given them about damaging the monument to be true and turned him over to OHP Officers.

Officials say the man was taken to an Oklahoma County mental facility for an emergency order of detention and mental evaluation.

Read the original report below:

OKLAHOMA CITY – A controversial monument of the Ten Commandments at the state Capitol has been destroyed, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

The granite monument, which was privately funded stands 6 feet tall and was placed at the Capitol in Nov. 2012

Oklahoma Highway Patrol says around 7 p.m. Thursday troopers responded to an abandoned vehicle which was driven into the statue.

Investigators with OHP have the suspect vehicle in custody and are continuing to investigate evidence surrounding the ordeal.

“We’ll process the scene and suspect vehicle to further the investigation in hopes of locating the responsible party”, stated Patrol spokesperson CPT George Brown.

Anyone with information which may lead to an arrest is asked to contact the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Public Affairs Office at 405-425-7709.

In September, an Oklahoma County judge threw out a lawsuit that wanted the removal of the Ten Commandments monument at the statehouse steps.

The lawsuit by the ACLU claimed the monument violates the state constitution’s ban against using public property to support church or religion.

Here is a statement from Ryan Kiesel, ACLU of Oklahoma Executive Director, on the vandalism of the statue.

"While we have and continue to seek the removal of the Ten Commandments monument from the Capitol grounds through the judicial process, the Ten Commandments constitute a strong foundation in our clients’ deeply held religious beliefs. To see the Ten Commandments desecrated by vandals is highly offensive to them as people of faith. Our Oklahoma and Federal Constitutions seek to create a society in which people of all faiths and those of no faith at all can coexist as equals without fear of repressions from the government or their neighbors. Whether it is politicians using religion as a political tool or vandals desecrating religious symbols, neither are living up to the full promise of our founding documents.”

Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin condemned the violence against the Ten Commandments Monument at the Oklahoma State Capitol and volunteered to raise private funds to restore it.

“This monument was built to memorialize the historical significance of the Ten Commandments in guiding our own laws and lives,” said Fallin. “It is absolutely appalling that someone would vandalize anything at the Oklahoma State Capitol – the People’s Building – much less a monument of such significance.”

The Ten Commandments monument was paid for with private funds from Rep. Mike Ritze. Governor Fallin has offered her assistance to Rep. Ritze to help lead any private fundraising efforts necessary to rebuild the monument.

“Our monument will be rebuilt and restored,” said Fallin. “The people of Oklahoma will not stand for acts of violence against the Capitol or its monuments.”

“Authorities are currently investigating this criminal act. The person or people responsible for this crime will be caught and held responsible.”

The Satanic Temple has public responded to the Ten Commandments monument destruction at the Oklahoma Capitol.

The Satantic Temple condemns the action and says it is appalled to learn about the destructive vandalism.

The TST spokesperson, Lucien Greaves, issued a statement:

“The Satanic Temple was appalled to learn of the act of destructive vandalism laid upon the 10 Commandments monument in Oklahoma today. As many are aware, we are seeking to have a Satanic monument erected alongside the 10 Commandments — and only alongside the 10 Commandments. We do not want our monument to stand alone. If our monument stands at the state Capitol, we want it to compliment and contrast the 10 Commandments, with both standing unmolested as a testament to American religious freedom and tolerance. We hope that by respecting religious liberty in allowing our monument to be displayed, Oklahoma will help ameliorate any animosity between differing perspectives, not cultivate them. The Satanic Temple will not seek to erect its monument unless the 10 Commandments is restored.”

“To be clear, Oklahoma City has the option to wait until the ACLU’s case regarding the legal status of the 10 Commandments is resolved before it permits its replacement. However, if the 10 Commandments is immediately reconstructed, our monument

will be ready for unveiling quite soon.”
