Cannabis is soluble in both alcohol and fat. Edibles usually start by dissolving the thc into butter, oil or even milk. The thc particles are readily attracted to and bond with the fat particles. The same thing happens with alcohol. The thc particles bond with the alcohol particles. The higher the proof the better it would work. I've never really thought about it but it would stand to reason that the alcohol in beer would attract the thc in marijuana, probably at a low ratio since beer doesn't really have much alcohol in it compared to say, everclear.
