As I understand it your cost basis should apply to your current shares.

So if you had 10,000 shares of AAMRQ and now 7,500 shares of AAL, cost basis should be applied to all 7,500 as the day you purchased them. This is what it reads like in Investors Relations. I can't believe Merrill hasn't had this issue come up with another investor. Unbelievable that I have to get emails from my accountant, attach investor relations papers, etc. What a bunch of scrubs. I love the 30 free trades a month but I'm kind of over this and am considering moving brokers.
