Port Commissioners Vote to Cancel LOU with Potential Cruise Operator
October 23, 2014 Press Release: For Immediate Release
Riviera Beach, Fla. – The Port of Palm Beach District Board of Commissioners voted Thursday, October 23,
2014 to terminate a Letter of Understanding (LOU) with a potential cruise operator that would operate a ship
from the Port of Palm Beach to Nassau, Bahamas.
The LOU, that was approved 5-0 at the District’s September meeting, allowed for the Port to enter
negotiations with PV Enterprises International to bring a ship to the Port and sail every other day. The LOU
also included the possibility of PEVI building a parking garage at the Port. The negotiation period was to be
through November 30, 2014.
“During the due diligence period, it was determined that terminating the agreement was in the best interest
of the Port and its business,” said Manuel Almira, Executive Director of the Port of Palm Beach. “We wish
them well, but at this time, we have decided not to move forward with our negotiations.”
The Port of Palm Beach continues to actively develop its business opportunities, which includes bringing a
second cruise ship to the Port in the future.
