These are the stocks making notable moves in the market on Friday:
Decliners
Amazon.com (AMZN) reported a wider-than-expected third-quarter loss and projected sales growth that was below analysts' expectations. A number of analysts have since cut their price targets, but only two have cut their ratings.
Pandora Media Inc. (P) said its loss narrowed while listener hours climbed 25%, but the stock is pressured due to concerns about competition.
Southwestern Energy Co. (SWN) on Thursday said its third-quarter profit rose, but the result was still short of analysts' estimates.
Juniper Networks Inc. (JNPR) reported third-quarter results that missed Wall Street estimates, and it issued a weak outlook.
DryShips Inc. (DRYS) announced it is selling new shares to help pay down some $700 million in debt.
Gainers
KLA-Tencor Corp. (KLAC) said it plans to buy back $1.25 billion in stock within the next 18 months and pay out a special cash dividend of $16.50 a share. KLA-Tencor also reported adjusted fiscal first-quarter results that topped Wall Street forecasts.
Edwards Lifesciences Corp. (EW) reported third-quarter earnings of 80 cents a share, ahead of analysts' estimates.
Avery Dennison Corp. (AVY) reported better-than-expected third-quarter earnings of 77 cents a share.
Vitae Pharmaceuticals Inc. (VTAE) said two early-stage clinical trials showed its experimental Alzheimer's disease treatment reduced biomarkers of the disease by more than 80%. Also, Mark Lampert's Biotechnology Value Fund announced a stake of more than 5% in the company.
Tickers to Watch
Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) posted fiscal first-quarter earnings and sales that were ahead of analyst forecasts. Shares rose 3.1%.
United Parcel Service Inc. (UPS) said its profit and revenue surpassed analysts' expectations.
Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. (BMY) said third-quarter profit slipped, but it still beat top- and bottom-line forecasts.
Ford Motor Co. (F) said its profit fell, but it still beat estimates.
Pfizer Inc. (PFE) announced plans for an $11 billion share buyback.
Nasdaq OMX Group Inc. (NDAQ) reported profits that topped expectations last quarter, due in large part to cost-control efforts.
Procter & Gamble Co. (PG) reported fiscal first-quarter results that were in line with expectations. The consumer products maker also said it would exit the Duracell battery business.
Moody's Corp. (MCO) said its ratings business helped push revenue up 16% last quarter, and its profit beat expectations.
Rubicon Project Inc. (RUBI) surprised Wall Street analysts by reporting a third-quarter profit instead of a loss. Sales topped expectations, as did the full-year outlook.
