One of China’s biggest alcohol producers, Wuliangye, has made an unconventional move – it is entering the - animal feed business. But no, cattle won’t be drinking China’s famous five-grain alcohol. Instead, Wuliangye aims to take the - waste from its distillation process & turn it in to a commercially viable, protein-rich feed for cattle, pigs & fish. The state-owned beverage giant enlisted New Hope Liuhe, a unit of China’s biggest animal feed producer & agribusiness, as one of its business partners. Though starting small, they plan to ramp up over several years of time with an total investment of US$118 million (RMB 772.8 million) & annual yearly production of 500,000 tons of feed.
