By mastercards own data announcement, only 47% of the terminals are going to be chip activated by Oct 2015, RF even less. Merchants will know how many customers will use RF or chip technology. Getting merchants to upgrade their technology will be the next hurdle. If Apple gets hacked between now and Oct 2015 there will be a customer desertion from Applepay and probably anything that has any similarity to RF technology.
