I've been saying exactly this for years now, to the vigorous denial of the Intel folks who told me that nobody buys tablets instead of PCs/laptops.

I'd put it differently: People tried and figured out that their tablet isn't replacing their PC at all. Instead it's just an additional device. Therefore they don't replace their tablet with a new one since it's more like a gadget.

This has been predictable for most people here on this board once they tried their first tablet and this is what happened. Only some people here still think that the PC is going to be replaced by tablets. Therefore, the majority on this board was right and predicted Intel's share price to recover.

I'd put it differently:

People who talk about "the PC" being replaced by "the tablet" are being foolish and are arguing with a straw-man.

Similarly,

Anyone who talks about "the tablet" being replaced by "the PC" are also being foolish and are arguing with a strawman.

And none of this jives with the article, which states:

A) MANY people have replaced their PCs with tablets, or bought tablets instead of PCs.
B) SOME of these people have found that PCs are better for SOME of their tasks.
