I've been saying exactly this for years now, to the vigorous denial of the Intel folks who told me that nobody buys tablets instead of PCs/laptops.


I'd put it differently: People tried and figured out that their tablet isn't replacing their PC at all. Instead it's just an additional device. Therefore they don't replace their tablet with a new one since it's more like a gadget. Instead, they go and buy a new PC or laptop since their old one has become pretty old by now. Hence, Intel's share price goes up and the company has more money to spend (or waste in your opinion) to gain marketshare in mobile.

This has been predictable for most people here on this board once they tried their first tablet and this is what happened. Only some people here still think that the PC is going to be replaced by tablets. Therefore, the majority on this board was right and predicted Intel's share price to recover.
