a) The decorticator has been totally moved, and they are reassembling.

b) The kenaf (6500 Tons = 15.000.000 pounds) is moving.

c) The plant ( Temafa decorticator + MacTavish line ) will be “up and runnig” in the first quarter of 2015. Meanwhile we have a lot of processed kenaf to sell.

d) The daily production capacity (3 shifts of 8 hours by day) of the plant is almost 100.000 pounds per day . (We have kenaf for 4/5 months in full production, 1 year at minimum level )

e) A number of potential customers have been contacted, they are currently testing the materials.

f) Materials have been sent to the NC State University, to test the kenaf for paper production.

The price of US Cotton after the 2008 crisis (80 $ ) raise to 200$ in 2011, then sunk to 86$ in 2014.

Compared to hemp or kenaf, the cotton have higher production cost, requires large use of pesticides, large use of chemical fertilizers and more water.

Then, it’s possible a partial CONVERSION from cotton to HEMP or KENAF.

About the previous owner of the plant, i think they are unlucky: buy a plant like this in 2009 ... just in time to be swept away by the crisis.
