Ebola vaccine testing to start "soon":

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/10/22/business/testing-for-ebola-vaccines-to-start-soon-who-says.html?_r=0

"It is still unclear if any of these vaccines will work, however, and even if they do, they may not be ready in time to help stem the current epidemic."

J&J spends $200M, and hopes to have 250K doses available in May 2015.

“Typically, you don’t make hundreds of thousands of vaccines before you know what the safety and immunogenicity is,” said Dr. Paul Stoffels, chief scientific officer of Johnson & Johnson. “This time, we will do that.”

Is "something not right" with J&J's decision?

J&J's vaccine is one of 4 vaccines that will be tested starting in January 2015 (2 are currently in Phase I volunteer testing outside of Africa).

MSF to start clinical trials of drug treatments against Ebola in the field "soon" as well.

Let's hope something works: one ore more of the drugs, or one or more of the vaccines.
