Anyone know if a company has to give a at least a 10 day notice of the ex dividend date? Over at mcig the company says that the ex dividend date will happen the day after the s1 for the spinoff of vcig is approved by the sec. It has kept people holding for fear they miss the vcig spinoff shares dividend since the sec approval of the spinoff could" happen at any moment". Of course that moment has been delayed for 6 months as the s1 goes back and forth with comments from the sec. But it has been an effective carrot to dangle by the company.
If advance notice does have to be given then people can still buy mcig in plenty of time and not miss the vcig dividend.
