Strategic Partner or Partners?

The first excerpt below is from their press release on 10/15/14 where they mention their strategic partner:

(3DIcon, along with strategic partner Schott Defense, visited the Battlespace Visualization Branch)

Their blog today refers to another possible partner in waiting because they say:

(the company,led by Federal Funding Specialist Doug Freitag, and in conjunction with our Strategic Partners, is actively pursuing federal funding to accelerate our commercialization of the CSpace®)

Maybe a typo? because 'are' would be the correct usage. BUT there might be a new partner in the wings?
