It's a bad day for VMware (VMW) as investors punish the business-software firm for what Cowen calls " uninspiring" 3Q earnings. Bookings were lower than expected, in part because VMW said it had trouble closing some big contracts with very-large customers. But the longer-term worry is VMW's core server-virtualization business is running out of growth and newer businesses are too small to lift overall revenue. Wall Street is also doubting VMW can meet its 2015 mid-teen revenue-growth forecast. Shares fall down 4.3% to $84.42 , putting the month's drop at 10% and the stock at a fresh 2014 low.
