Because of the amount of revenue and profit that will be accumulated if the technology works and the cost of production and delivery are low compared to the price that can be gotten, and because it's cheap to buy a portion of that profit now at an extremely discounted price.

Is this a risky speculation? yes. If it were not the price would be much higher.
