HIMX Himax -13.2% AH; Google declines additional investment
Himax (NASDAQ:HIMX) states Google has "has decided not to exercise its previously issued purchase option to make an additional investment" in Himax's LCoS microdisplay subsidiary (Himax Display). CEO Jordan Wu: "Despite Google's decision not to exercise its investment option in our HDI subsidiary, our continued close partnership with Google is invaluable." Google took a 6.3% stake in Himax Display last year, and had an option to increase it to 14.8%. There were reports earlier this year that Google was thinking of using an OLED microdisplay for the next version of Glass, but more recent reports stated Google is likely to stick with Himax's LCoS microdisplays. Was the news leaked? Himax fell sharply in regular trading on strong volume
