I'm sure it looks ok, at a distance, but of course you could probably be watching 1080p at the same distance and not be able to tell the difference.

The point is, if you're a consumer paying a 4K rate for content, you really do want to get within a few inches of it to see the detail. If it's well inferior to 1080p from Blu-Ray, it's not good enough!

And low-bitrate 4K (<10mbps) will definitely be inferior to 1080p Blu-Ray.
