I see that Mr. Vaffan-Coulo continues to misread the results of the Campbell study.

When these results came out, we went back and forth many times about this study, what the end points were and what data was available - and his conclusion was that Campbell was an idiot - and who would think a study structured this way would make any difference.

In no way can it be inferred that sham performed as well as Calmare. Randomized trials (in general) and Randomized trials to a sham are often referred to as the panacea for definitive proof of the efficacy of a trial - but the reality is they are very hard to execute.

While VC's humor is often unparalleled in his corporate blogs - his insistence on arguments that have been refuted is a disappointment. (I confess to laughing out loud at his call to the great mystics in a blog earlier this week - although his picking on Abby is over the top)

That being said - the US relies upon published, so-called independent research to determine the acceptability of a new procedure. So far, CTI's stewardship of Calmare has fallen short of the requirements for widespread adoption of this potentially important treatment.
