Not sure where the author of that piece got this idea, but the Black Death was caused by a bacterium, Pasturella pestis, since renamed Yersina pestis, and is also known as bubonic plague. There is no similarity between bubonic plague and ebola, other than the idea that ebola might be a cause of a pandemic similar to the plague. This is not probable given the state of modern medicine, but that does not negate the possibility of such a pandemic in areas of the world where modern medicine has not become established, such as most of Africa.
