SA- that argument gets brought up over and over. Not sure why people do not understand pfd is a better fit for some people than common.
It has always been pfd safer less upside. common more upside more risk.

In fannie n freddie it is a little less clear because the illegal conservatorship has held these down sooooo long.
the normal risk reward relationship is stronger for the common now.
i still own more pfd thna common. (slowly adding common) but that has more to do with my not willing to risk not my thesis that they are a better buy.
