This year’s exhibition is supported by a strong seminar programme that will explore topics in greater depth– a full programme will be available at the beginning of July. The programme explores some of the key markets benefiting from these new and innovative technologies as well as providing a platform to discuss the latest applications and developments in micro machining technologies.
Among the companies speaking at this year’s event is Spanish company Ultrasion. The first company dedicated to the design, manufacture and commercialisation of industrial solutions it will be discussing a recently developed and commercially available micro moulding technology.
According to Enric Sirera, the company’s Sales Director, “Traditional micro-injection moulding technologies have migrated from machines that were developed on the macro level. Ultrasion’s technology, however, is unique in the use of ultrasounds as the main source of energy to melt the plastic.”
The process is simple. Only the shot size necessary for each shot is fed using standard pellets at room temperature. Melt occurs in milliseconds through the use of ultrasonics, which increases fluidity. Moulding can take place using low pressures while at the same time being highly replicable, and there is minimised waste as the parts are ejected.
Other presentations include:
‘Carbon Nanotube Composite Surfaces for Electrical Contacts of MEMS Switches’
Dr Adam P. Lewis, University of Southampton
‘Laser manufacturing - a practical guide’
Dr Nadeem Rizvi , MD, Laser Micromachining
‘Innovative Nanoscience based Solutions for Energy Savings and Asset Protection’
Mr Kevin R. Buchler, Managing Director, NanoTech Coatings UK
‘Optimising fasteners for weight reduction, serviceability and high-speed assembly’
Michael Mowins, President, Phillips Screw Company
Free-to-attend the exhibition itself will feature state-of-the-art live machine demonstrations and will play host to exhibitors covering the full spectrum of micro, precision, mems and nano manufacturing solutions. Visiting professionals will be able to discuss all their requirements with a wide variety of companies.
For the second year running the show will be co-locating with Sensors & Instrumentation; The Machine Building Show and TCT. In addition these shows will also be joining forces with Interplas and the PPMA show which had over 12,000 visitors when they were last held together.
This international forum for micro manufacturing is being organised by Datateam Business Media Ltd and is being supported by respected media publications including: CMM, Components in Electronics, Eurotec, Electronics, electro optics, Laser Systems Europe, Nano Magazine and Machinery.
