Should Anatabloc be used for Chikungunya Virus treatment?

I am writing this to share my thoughts and research on the possibility that Anatabloc (which contains Anatabine) may be an excellent treatment for those who are infected by the Chikungunya virus.

It appears that the Chikungunya virus is a world health problem and there is no medicine for treatment of a Chikungunya virus infection or disease.

It appears that at the acute phase of the Chikungunya virus IL-6 is very high.

It appears that this high level IL-6 has the potential to cause bone resorption

It appears CHIKV infection of osteoblasts may initiate a vicious cycle in which IL-6 triggers its own expression and attracts monocytes/macrophages in an environment prone to osteoclast-like cell differentiation.

It appears that Anatabine might have the ability to keep IL-6 at normal levels.

If the above is correct than Anatabine which has been used safely as a supplement for years might prevent bone damage to those who are affected by the Chikungunya virus.

Below are quotes from various articles I found and links to the web pages. I used this information to reach the above statements.

New mosquito-borne virus spreads in Latin America

Medical press 9/27, 2014

AP)—An excruciating mosquito-borne illness that arrived less than a year ago in the Americas is raging across the region, leaping from the Caribbean to the Central and South American mainland, and infecting more than 1 million people. Some cases have already emerged in the United States.
While the disease, called Chikungunya, is usually not fatal, the epidemic has overwhelmed hospitals, cut economic productivity and caused its sufferers days of pain and misery. And the count of victims is soaring.

The CDC says there is no medicine to treat Chikungunya virus infection or disease and people at risk for more severe disease include newborns infected around the time of birth, older adults (=65 years), and people with medical conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, or heart disease

The CDC says take medicines, such as ibuprofen, naproxen, acetaminophen, or paracetamol, to relieve fever and pain

This article talks about high levels of IL-6 during the acute phase of Persistent Arthralgia Induced by Chikungunya Virus Infection

http://jid.oxfordjournals.org/content/203/2/149.full

This article talks about how high level IL-6 has the potential to cause bone resorption. The article states “The Chikungunya virus often leaves those it infects with severe joint pains. This could be the result of arthritic changes brought about by the virus getting into certain cells in the bone.

This study shows that Anatabine may have the ability to keep IFN-?, IL-8, IL-6 and TNF-a at normal levels

I would like the government to fund a study as soon as possible to determine if Anatabine would be a better treatment than ibuprofen, naproxen, acetaminophen, or paracetamol, to lower the high levels of IL-6 caused by Chikungunya?

If Anatabine helps the way I suspect it does this could be very beneficial to older adults (=65 years), and people with medical conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, or heart disease. The future finical cost to the medical system might be significantly lower if taking Anatabloc as a treatment for Chikungunya reduces the potential future costs of treating the arthritic conditions that may arise from the elevated IL-6.

The FDA has notified the manufacture of Anatabloc that the ingredient Anatabine is a drug and cannot be sold as a supplement.
