I probably thought that way in 2009-2010 as to being a viable business plan. But I can tell you it wasnt, this many years later after observing the difficulty of achieving commercial level yields BEHL didnt have the capability nor the resources to do so. Here it is 5 years later and there are actual companies with a lot more money thrown at them then this could have ever dreamed of and they are not close to a commercial level of production with fuel for example.

They can produce the product and at large quantities but they cannot do so at a commercial level to become an actual source to replace other fuels. The cosmetics and health industry has already gotten more than enough players in it and some of that actually took off. But BEHL didnt have the quality control measures to produce what they said they could, in fact they would have been lucky to have a reasonable portion of a specific strain to grow in the tubes to be what it was supposed to be. Then there were other issues like harvesting and extracting, they didnt have a method that would result in efficient yields.

Of course they also lacked the knowledge and professional staffing to achieve quality results. Anyone can go and look at similar Bio Reactors that BEHL basically took the concept from and see their results in published papers. Nobody with that style of Bio Reactor is achieving phenomenal results with them, in fact most at the small scale will tell you that they are at break even points and lower. Scaling up would result in losses and well BEHL never delivered a result even with their small PBR at Santa Ana.
