It's a straight-forward question to me: Do I trust the new management or not? Initially, I was happy to give them leeway. They did the talk. Could they do the walk?

They PR'd something that should enable an easy point of trust with a given timeframe. That was their choice. They PR'd it even though it was "inconsequential minutia." When the timeframe came, nothing. As you said, it is "inconsequential minutia" in the whole realm of the company but yet it was significant enough for them to PR an LOI. It should have been a slam dunk in terms of a tiny way to gain some trust and credibility.
They did the talk and then couldn't take the tiny step in the walk.
The argument that cartoon is making that they did do the agreement but then decided to not tell anyone, just doesn't wash.

I have my first (and hopefully only) red flag.
They need to deliver and "2015" won't do it.
