Re: Systemic Effect of DC Vax.

I have not followed all the many threads here. I was struck by the notion of 'there is no systemic effect'.

That's not what I recall from the different NWBO presentations.
1) In animal studies, mice injected with Direct had both systemic effect and 60 days later, the mice injected with the same cells which caused the tumors in the first place did not develop that cancer, i.e. memory.

"Preclinical animal data have demonstrated that these aDC can mobilize both local and systemic immune responses, and effectively clear both injected (local) and non-injected (distal) inoperable tumor lesions"

2) http://www.nwbio.com/nw-bio-announces-first-data-from-ongoing-dcvax-direct-trial/
"The specific case study announced today involves a sarcoma patient with a large tumor mass and multiple inoperable metastatic tumors in the lung. This patient received the first 3 DCVax-Direct injections through the course of a month, starting in February. He received a fourth injection in early April and then was scanned for results in early May. At that time, this patient’s MRI scan showed extensive necrosis and partial collapse of the injected large tumor mass, and a CT scan showed some early indication of shrinkage of one of the non-injected metastasized tumors. These results suggest both local and systemic effects of the DCVax-Direct treatment, as were seen in the pre-clinical studies." Of course NWBO is cautious.

"DCVax®-Direct for Inoperable Tumors: Overview
• DCs secrete cytokines locally in tumor(s) where injected
• DCs also potentially mobilize overall immune system (take up antigen in situ
in tumor(s) where injected, travel to lymph nodes, mobilize T and B cells)
• Systemic immune activation potentially targets tumors not injected with
DCVax-Direct (in addition to tumors injected), and shrinks or eliminates them
• Systemic immune activation may potentially develop immune memory which
prevents or delays recurrence of tumors"

For a company at this stage of the clinical trials, what else do you want? As for me, I'm impressed!!!

Furthermore, for those who think the U.K. Early Patient Access program may be detrimental to NWBO, I simply have to ask: Would it be better if Merck, Gilead, Sanofi, or any other company with a huge name had its immunotherapy so recognized, and not NWBO? To me, this endorsement is another step for NWBO.

The PPS does what it must. As for me, I'm amazed at the accomplishment of this small cap company! Time will tell, but every 'real news' is another step in the right direction.

Long NWBO in case that was not clear :)
