Have you ever considered buying on the upswing rather than hoping for it to come down to hit your bid? I do this quite a bit especially with stocks that I expect to eventually go much higher in price anyway. It also eliminates the "catch a falling knife" problem.

As an example, let's say there is a sizeable (for ANY at least) number of shares put on the ask. Say 5000 at $6.75. Put in a buy stop market or stop limit bid of $6.76. Usually better to get a fill after it goes through a large ask order than to get a fill when the price is falling.
