"Utilities doing an about face on rooftop solar?"
Another positive for solar installation, the “Utilities doing an about face on rooftop solar?”. “This summer saw utility Arizona Public Service (APS), which has been pretty aggressive in its fight against net metering, float a proposal to develop 20 megawatts of solar systems on 3,000 rooftops over the next 15 months. The systems would be under utility control (utility side of the meter), feeding power onto the grid. In exchange for use of their roofs, customers would get a $30 monthly credit on their bill for twenty years.”
The utility companies are seeing that solar is the power of the future that is obvious to everyone. Their attempt to get installed capacity connection fee did not work well; Arizona asked for an $8 per kilowatt of installed capacity connection fee but given a $0.70 per kilowatt fee. It seems that utilities will not stop solar so they realize it is wiser to get on board to use solar to make the electricity they sell.
I can foresee utility companies everywhere partnering up with companies like Sunvalley Solar to solar them up. Being in the hot bed for solar (California) Sunvalley Solar will have to grow the company in size to satisfy the utility company’s ever increasing appetite for solar electricity! This is one of the many steps to lead Sunvalley Solar to a grand size and status. SSOL will have utility status in my opinion! It is hard to predict what the SSOL SP will be.
