Possible reasons for postponement and change from number 1 to number 2.

1. Parties announce settlement in principle, but need time to finalize. The Courts will usually grant postponements in such a case, but normally give a time period to submit docs.

2. Motion for Continuance.

3. An injunction hearing with docket precedence.

4. A case scheduled to start a week(s) before that will likely carry over until week of Sep 8

5. A criminal trial becoming number 1.

6. Death or servious illness of key lawyer or key lawyer's immediate family.

7. Judge's illness

8. Agreed to by parties for really, really good reasons.

These are just a few reasons cases get postponed.

Usually, if there is a settlement, a motion for continuance will state such a fact and request continuance to finish the documentation. We have seen no such motion.
