NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- These are stocks making notable moves Tuesday:
Gainers:
Apple Inc. (AAPL) : Buzz builds around a Sept. 9 event at which the highly anticipated iPhone 6 and also possibly the iWatch are expected to be unveiled. In addition, Apple(AAPL) is working with a Dutch chipmaker to change how you pay for everything from pizza to shoes., and the tech giant is in a deal with Visa and others on a new iPhone wallet. In other news, the company is investigating reports that vulnerabilities in its iCloud service were exploited to hack the accounts of celebrities. Shares were up 0.7% premarket.
Dollar General Corp. (DG): The dollar-store chain raised its offer for rival Family Dollar Stores Inc.(FDO) . Dollar General(DG) shares rose 2.1% premarket, while shares in Family Dollar(FDO) gained 0.5%.
Decliners:
Conn's Inc. (CONN): The furniture and appliance retailer missed fiscal second-quarter profit forecasts and slashed its full-year outlook. Shares dived 24% premarket.
Exelixis Inc. (EXEL): The biotech company late Monday said a clinical trial failed to meet its goal and that it would cut its workforce by about 70%. Shares tanked 53% in premarket action.

Under Armour Inc. (UA): Nike Inc.(NKE) is matching Under Armour's(UA) giant endorsement offer to Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant that would keep the NBA star part of Team Swoosh for years to come. Shares in Under Armour(UA) were down 0.5% premarket.
Tesla Motors Inc. (TSLA) : The electric-car manufacturer's shares set an all-time closing high Friday. The company reached an agreement with China Unicom(CHU) to have charging stations in China. Shares added 2.2% premarket. Also read: 'Just math': Tesla stock will rise to more than $300
iDreamSky Technology Ltd. (DSKY) : Analysts will begin publishing research on the stock following a post-IPO "quiet period." Shares were priced at $15 and hit an intraday high of $22.50 last week. They were up 3% premarket.
