The "Indicted" article was from 2003.
But it doesn't hurt to read what the Hop-On Ceo apparently was accused of. It wasn't just one wrong thing that the evidence that triggered the raid and indictment found.

So these are three big felonies he was charged with in separate incidents. Securities fraud, mail fraud, and money laundering.

Peter Michaels later plead guilty to felony money laundering.

I have trouble seeing why another company would trust enough to get involved with Hop-On.
